I remember the crying as well Stallion. People screaming we would take between 5,000--10,000 to Memphis. Strange, as some of the biggest mouths, haven't posted on the Compass Bowl attendance threads?

Stallion wrote:So I guess this may answer the great debate between Hawaii Bowl and your average plane hop 3rd rate mainland bowl because I think we sold more to Hawaii than 526 if true. I think it just might be best for SMU to play the rest of their bowl games in Dallas because we can't travel anywhere else. Mmm and there were so many claiming injustice in going to Hawaii versus a Memphis Bowl or similiar driveable mainland bowl. I'd go to either. Next year when the debate comes up I'll vote-given the option-I say we go to either TicketCity against Big 10 or Hawaii Bowl.

I think SMU had somewhere b/w 2,000 and 2500 for Hawaii.
The number was posted on here recently, but I can't find it.
My bank account is happier we're going to B'ham, but it certainly hasn't captured the imagination of the fan base. Too bad.
TicketCity isn't an option next year, technically, since CUSA rotates out and BigXII rotates in. But with all the swapping that goes on, it might not matter.

Next year will be June's last chance for a SMU/Hawaii match up.

I am on board with the Hawaii bowl next year unless we win CUSA and have the opportunity to play in the Liberty Bowl.

I hope there is a regular season OOC game with Hawaii in the works. We played them there in a WAC game back in the day... always a good trip - for the team and the fans.

I'm not a big fan of an OOC game with Hawaii but there are two pluses. You get a 13th game and the prices drop like a rock in the offseason.

Ticket office said we are near 700, and with players comps, band etc... Should be around 1,000. Pathetic though.

I will be glad to change my plans and attend- STLhockey- just x-fer 5k to my bank account to cover the airfare and travel expenses. I am sure I am not the only one that can't make a trip to B'ham because of the distance and expenses involved. Glad we are in our 3rd bowl game.

GO PONIES!!!

$5k? Cost should really not be a factor unless you have a family of 4+

Airfare $300
Hotel $100 for 2 nights probably if you split a room with someone
Ticket to game $20
Food and drink $50 - $100
Total of about $500 give or take if you really wanted to go. Probably save another $100 if you drive out there.
