The bowl system was in place a little while before 1998.

I think what he was really focusing on was that TCU still had their SWC fan base at that time, and they were also playing against USC.

Just reminders:
1) TCU didn't get 30K until they had a 10-1 LT team. That launched them to the next level.
2) If we are 5-1 with a win over a ranked team and are playing a BCS opponent in the big east and have the marketing department to advertise the game and the program, we will get a much better crowd than UCF.

I am guessing about 800, and Tulsa wouldn't do much better.

agreed. I dont think we brought many people to Mobile in 07 or 08.

Birmingham sucks balls. Thats why I think SMU wouldve done better @ the AFB. Im glad Tulsa got the AFB. Should be a great showing. We had at least 7000 for the Tulsa/Utah AFB in 2006.

If Ralhp is really going I might go provided he pays for my hotie and puts me on his expense account all week.

i am fairly sure its an industry standard that if someone brings in a chip, its good for a free drink. unspoken, definitely unwritten, but almost any bar will trade a chip for any drink of your choice.

Was there Friday and had forgotten how outstanding the stuffed jalapenos were. Quite possibly the best I've had.

Why is there no plan to fix the problem.

Look, I'm as down on and annoyed with people not showing up to games as anyone. I'm at every game I can possibly be at -- football and basketball. If I weren't about to have a baby in the next week or so, my flight to B-ham would already be booked. I also think that Jones has a legitimate gripe about the lack of marketing from the administration --- hard economic times or not.

But I suggest that if June Jones wants to know the answers to the questions you raise, he look in the mirror and at the offense we've been seeing. Slow, plodding, take 40 seconds on the play clock every time -- nothing of this high powered, high scoring thing we were all conditioned to expect, blow out losses, plus inexcusable inability to beat Navy (which San Jose State and somehow managed, with more points on the board that we could muster). Plus Jones (and consequently the team) whining about attendance and how SMU sucks does not guilt in the casual Dallas fan or the lost generation into coming to games, and only alienates the loyal fans that have stuck it out all these years.
