Well the latest college football video game hit stores today and they answered this dilemma in a rather interesting way.

Since SMU is with Nike but does not have new duds (yet), the video game kept the old unis in but have no Adidas logo or any logo for the matter, on their uniforms but they gave players nike cleats and gloves.

Rumor has it EA SPorts will release a downloadable pack sometime during the season with updated uniforms for teams like SMU (and Mizzou, Rutgers, Vandy, etc...) that didn't make the original cut. No idea if it will cost anything but hopefully they include SMU if this does come out!

They look more fitted and the shoulder stripes look better. The only thing I would change would be to have SMU on the front instead of the Mustang logo.

Not too bad in the grand scheme of things. I fully expected a goofy number font since that is what Nike does, but this one doesn't look too ridiculous. Of course, we won't know for sure until we can see all ten digits.

And no, we don't need "SMU" on the front of the jersey - never did actually, we aren't a 3A high school team. A football helmet is enough to distinguish a team, and we have one of the most recognizable helmets in the country.

If that's really the look, it's OK, I guess (as long as the helmets remain unchanged). Not good, but could be worse. (If there are no numbers on the sleeves, Rich Phillips will get upset!)

Please please please go back to the Pony Express blue home jerseys with the oversized SMU on the front. Those were beauties.

It will never happen, but that would be amazing ... although it would end SMU's apparent effort to market gear that nobody would want to wear.

I have a replica just like it. I wear it to a couple of SMU games every year, and to every Mavericks/Stars/Rangers/Cowboys/FC Dallas game I go to. Classic jersey to get the SMU name out there whenever possible!

Maybe we'll get those cool receivers gloves that make a Mustang or the state of Texas with some cool colored undershirt sleeves w/ the state and Dallas on it. I don't care if you like it, I want a shoe company to take that much interest in the program. Means somebody out there gives a darn.
