Can have light business classes to help understand their contacts and talk to agents, physiology and nutrition classes, speaking classes to help with being a coach, etc. You can craft a legit major out of that, you can make it easy and keep these guys out of the other majors, and it is something actually useful to them. You could even have a teaching certificate attached for guys who just go straight into coaching high school. Everyone wins.

That's a pretty awesome degree plan.

So I wonder where SMU is at now. Buzz is a no-go, apparently Seth hasn't even heard from us, and some report last night said that the Larry Brown thing is a no-go as well. Man, I'm just eager for this to be resolved, I'm a little too excited about the possibility of SMU becoming a competent Big East program.

Where was it reported that Larry Brown is not coming here?

A poster said he saw it on the "news". I don't put much stock into it, nothing on the interwebs to back it up.

Okay, just curious because I haven't heard anything to suggest he's not in the mix either.

Hall of Fame coach Larry Brown says he has not called SMU about its vacant head coaching position, nor has SMU called him. But is he open to the possibility?

"Absolutely," Brown, 71, said Wednesday.

A source told The Dallas Morning News earlier Wednesday that Brown had expressed interest in the SMU job through intermediaries. When reached later Wednesday, Brown said his phone had been ringing all morning.

It just struck me. The next SMU coach should be Nancy Lieberman.

I like the professional sports major: how not to become Antoine Walker

Larry is in New Orleans and so is Steve Orsini......birdies have mentioned they are to meet or have already met. I would love a Larry Brown hire with several strong assistant coaches under him being mentored by a great mind like Larry Brown. One or both could be unofficial coaches in waiting....Benford and Lutz?

That would be a great combo. And probably the best idea posted since the 'no thanks' by buzz.

I said bad idea earlier....kinda like it now even though we know he's kind of a BB gypsy.

Just build the right staff and see what happens.

But we are going the UNC path again. Brown played for Dean Smith early in Dean's tenure.

The good news for many of you, is if Larry Brown is hired, I'm done. Tired of being a joke, and that hire is a farce. Great coach, but a horrible idea to build a program long-term. He'll quit a year into the Big East and we'll be sitting here again, in no better a position

He's old, we wouldn't want him here for a long time anyway.

The article that Ponyscott posted said that Larry Brown would be interested in a mentor role. That's what I think he's suited for. Go get Benford, give him Lutz as an assistant, and let Larry Brown mentor the young guys
