Women's Swimming And Diving Dominates North Texas 201-97

DENTON, Texas (SMU) - The SMU women's swimming and diving team defeated North Texas 201-91 Friday night. The Mustangs won 15 of the meet's 16 events and are now 3-0 in dual meets this season.

Senior diver Audra Egenolf turned in another strong performance for the Mustangs, winning both the one-meter and three-meter diving events. Egenolf turned in a combined score of 340.95 in the three-meter event, more than 70 points ahead of her nearest competitor. In the one-meter dive, Egenolf registered a score of 299.55, more than 50 points ahead of the runner-up.

Freshman Nina Rangelova was the top individual swimmer, picking up three wins on the evening. Rangelova took top honors in the 200-yard fly, clocking in with a time of 2:04.52 and besting the field by more than seven seconds. She also won the 100-yard freestyle (52.09) and the 200-yard IM (2:07.63).

Junior Therese Svendsen took first in the 100-yard backstroke (57.28) and the 500-yard freestyle (5:02.21). Svendsen opened the evening by swimming the first leg of the 200-yard medley relay that finished in a first place time of 1:46.66.

Other individual winners include Alice McCall (1650-yard freestyle), Ana Santos (200-yard freestyle), Raminta Dvariskyte (100-yard breaststroke), Deanna Matthews (200-yard backstroke), Maroua Mathlouthi (200-yard breaststroke) and Denisa Smolenova (100-yard butterfly).

SMU heads to Houston to compete in the Cougar Classic Nov. 18-20.
