HOUSTON, TX, United States (UPI) -- While Tulane University`s New Orleans campus is closed and the fall semester has been canceled, its athletes will continue to play from temporary homes.

President Scott Cowen announced Tuesday that five universities have agreed to take in Tulane teams, enrolling athletes as temporary students and providing them with housing. Cowen and the rest of Tulane`s administration have set up a temporary base in Houston.

The Green Wave football team goes to Louisiana Tech in Ruston, while men`s basketball, women`s swimming and diving, women`s volleyball and women`s soccer will relocate to Texas A&M in College Station. Texas Tech in Lubbock is taking in the baseball and women`s basketball squads, men`s and women`s tennis teams are going to Rice in Houston and golfers of both sexes will be at Southern Methodist University in Dallas.

Cross-country has been canceled for the duration.

Cowen also announced that full-time employees and part-time employees with benefits remain on the payroll. But other part-timers and adjunct faculty will be paid only through Aug. 29.

Have the Tulane golfers bonded (fellowship) with SMU's golfers?

Are the Tulane and SMU teams practicing together or separately?

Do collegiate golfers train with weights (use the Salvino Center)?

They are practicing seperately but have had a few functions together. They came here with abslotuly nothing and some SMU alum have really taken care of them. The golf courses have really taken care of them as well.

They do work out in the Salvino weightroom.

There was a big article in Golfweek that really gave SMU some good publicity.

Just happen to know a couple of the golfers. Ask Jtstang, i think he is more up on it than i.
