Maryland defeated New Mexico 1-0 for the soccer national championship. New Mexico missed a PK in the second half that would have tied the score. New Mexico, a relatively new power on the national scene, got somewhere we have never been in 30 years of NCAA play, the national championship game. Very frustrating.

Maryland's GK did a nice job stopping the PK, considering it was a national championship and he had to be terrified .... but it was shot almost right down the middle. And Maryland's goal was very fluky, but the Terps were the much better team out there today. Congratulations to them -- at least we can say the only team to beat the Ponies in the postseason was the national champion.
