Does anyone have the scoop on why Jeff Harwell left the men's soccer team? Ever without knowing the circumstances of his departure, I would think this was a major loss to the program. Jeff was probably our top 2005 signee as he was a parade all american,a national youth team player and a highly regarded national recruit. Both his mother and a grandparent are SMU graduates. He played as a freshman in, I believe , 16 games before leaving the team. He was recently named to the CUSA all freshman team although he is no longer on our roster. I wonder if he is still in school and if there is any possibility of his returning to the team in the spring.

Don't know why he left, or whether he'll be back.
But in hindsight, I'd say our top signees were Bruno Guarda and Paulo da Silva.

I agree that both Bruno and Paulo turned out to be outstanding freshman players especially at the end of the season and the tournament. And they are both still on the team for hopefully three more years. Jeff was a more acclaimed player coming in and he did play a lot. I hate to lose him.

In an article on Jesuit soccer in the DMN today, it was indicated that Jeff was still at SMU. I wonder if this is correct and if he will be returning for Spring soccer.
