Philadelphia, Pa. - Former SMU soccer standout Duke Hashimoto was picked by the Columbus Crew in the fourth round (38th pick overall) in the 2006 Major League Soccer SuperDraft on Friday in Philadelphia, Pa. Hashimoto was instrumental in helping SMU to the College Cup in 2005.

A 2005 NSCAA/adidas All-America second team selection, Hashimoto was also named to the 2005 NSCAA/adidas All-Midwest Region first team. In addition, he was named to the Soccer Times.com All-America second team, the College Soccer News.com All-America third team and one of Soccer America's 2005 MVPs. In 2005, Hashimoto started in
all but one game this season (22 starts/23 appearances) and was the Mustangs' leading scorer with 11 goals and seven assists (29 points), totaling five game-winning goals.

Named the 2005 Conference USA Offensive Player of the Year and named to the All-C-USA first team, Hashimoto posted a shot on goal percentage of 58.2%. The CollegeSoccerNews.com National Player of the Week (October 23, 2005), he earned C-USA Offensive Player of the Week (Oct. 3) honors and was selected to the 2005 ESPN The Magazine Academic All-District VI first team.

I was hoping David Chun would've gotten drafted too, Duke's a great player though, and I'm really happy for him
