Adrian Chevannes

I read a report that Adrian Chevannes trained with MLS Real Salt Lake after he left SMU last fall. He apparently still has NCAA eligibility and could either return to SMU or transfer. Of course, I have no idea if he wants to return or if Schellas would let him return. He would be a great asset. A former youth national team player.

I've heard that, too, but I don't understand why he could return and Alex Smith couldn't. Smith trained with a European team, and Chevannes trained with Real Salt Lake. Neither was paid a dime, I gather. Why the difference in eligibility retention?

I believe training with a pro side is OK as long as you do not play in any games. I think Alex played in a number of exhibition games and that cost him his NCAA eligibility.
