SMU rowers excel at Indoor Worlds

Two rowers compete in 25th CRASH-B Sprints Indoor World Rowing Champions

Ashley Luther and Meg Gaab competed in championships

DALLAS (SMU) - SMU Rowers Ashley Luther and Meg Gaab competed in the 25th CRASH-B Sprints Indoor World Rowing Championships at Boston University's Agannis Arena on Saturday.

Luther, a sophomore from Carlisle, Mass., finished 11th overall (out of 333) in the women's open event and 4th among collegiate entries with a time of 7:01.4.

Gaab, a junior from Pittsburgh, Pa., finished 27th overall (out of 333) in the women's open event and 13th among collegiate entries with a time of 7:12.4.

The Mustang squad opens the 2006 spring season with two straight home meets on White Rock Lake in Dallas: Saturday, March 11th vs. Creighton; and Thursday, March 23rd vs. Kansas.

The rowing program is only a few years old, and these two finished in the top 30 out of more than 300? That's pretty damn good.
