Daniel Lopez, MF and Stephen Sandbo, GK are both currently participating in the highly select national under 20 team camp in Florida. I have said on several occasions that I believed Lopez as a freshman was probably one of the best and most consistent players on the SMU team. He is a true MF who was asked to play out of position at right back to give the Ponies an exceptional defense the past season. He did not get the spotlight like Bruno and Paulo but he was an outstanding player and his selection to participate on the national Under 20 team with a small select group of the top youth players in the country bears this out.

Congratulations to both. Here's hoping this leads to a huge season by each.

In a recent exhibition game, the U.S. U-20s lost to the MLS Colorado Rapids 1-0. SMU's Stephen Sandbo played the entire game in goal. Each under 20 field player played one half, with Pony, Daniel Lopez playing the entire second half. The Under 20's apparently played well against a MLS team that played many of its front line players.
