SMU Signees lead Dallas Cup teams to Championships
Posted: Mon Apr 17, 2006 7:50 amSMU signee Dane Saintus, brother of current SMU player Dario Saintus, scored two goals as Dallas Texans Red beat Mexico's Santos Laguna for the Dallas Cup Super Group U19 Championship 4-2. This was a major accomplishment in the world of youth soccer and the first time a U.S. team has won the Super Group.
In the U19 Championship game, FC Texas Black beat England's Knowsley Youth 3-1 with SMU signee Jaime Benitez scoring twice and having the assist on the third goal.
A great week for these SMU signees and fantastic publicity for SMU on the national and world scene as this tournament is one of the best youth tournaments in the world if not the best.
