Wes Homan, who played college golf at Southern Methodist University, is the champion of the men's Greater Cincinnati Metropolitan Amateur Championship.

Homan defeated seven-time champion Jim Volpenhein, 1 up, on Sunday at Four Bridges Country Club in the 36-hole final.

Homan, a graduate of Summit Country Day School and a three-time Southwest Ohio Player of the Year, took the lead on the second hole and never lost the lead. When Homan won the 23rd hole, he was 4 up. But Volpenhein rallied and squared the match on the 34th hole. Two holes later, Homan won the match when he made a 25-foot birdie putt on the par-4 18th.
