Women's soccer falls to North Carolina

Fantastic day to watch soccer yesterday, but a disappointing result. The team played hard, but looked a little jittery to me. Ashley Gunter gave up three goals, but none of them could be stopped -- you certainly can't hang this one on her. She played extremely well.

Kim Peabody also showed she might be a very good player. She adds a good dose of speed across from Olivia O'Rear, and she seems to play with an edge, a toughness that every team needs. Looking forward to seeing her play more.

There is nothing worse than losing to the freaking Tar Heels. I am so sick of them being so freaking good!

There's absolutely no shame in losing 3-0 to the Tar Heels (especially since they were bound to be ornery after losing to A&M in their season opener). Heck, not getting run off the field by the Heels shows there's a new level of play that's been gradually forming over the past few years.

What the Mustangs have needed the past few years is to a.) play at a high level against all opponents, not just the good ones and b.) someone to step up in the NCAA tournament and have the game of her life to get them over the Aggie hump.

Neither of those questions can be answered early in the season.
