SMU to Host SMU Radisson Hotel Men's Soccer Invitational This Weekend

FIU, Cal, and Cincinnati Join SMU for Games to be Played on UT-Dallas Stadium Field

DALLAS (SMU) - The seventh-ranked SMU men's soccer team is set for its 2006 Dallas debut with the SMU Radisson Hotel Invitational this Friday and Saturday evening. All four of this weekend's contests will be played on the Stadium Field at UT-Dallas. Participating in this year's Invitational is Florida International (FIU), Cincinnati, and Cal. Friday's games feature FIU vs. Cal (5:00 p.m.) followed by Cincinnati vs. SMU (7:30 p.m.). Saturday's schedule opens with FIU vs. Cincinnati (5:00 p.m.) followed by Cal vs. SMU (7:30 p.m.). Tickets are $6.00 for adults and $4.00 for youth. Current SMU faculty, staff and students are admitted free with current and valid SMU ID.

The Mustangs are coming off two wins (and the team title) over Wisconsin and Wisconsin-Milwaukee in last weekend's Golden Hurricane Classic in Tulsa. Cincinnati is 2-0 with wins over Xavier (in overtime) and Bradley. Cal, coached by former SMU All-America and former Mustang assistant coach Kevin Grimes, brings a 0-1-1 record into this weekend's competition with a 1-1 tie vs. Santa Clara and a 1-0 loss to San Francisco. FIU, an affiliate men's soccer member in Conference USA, is 0-1 with a 1-0 loss to ninth-ranked South Florida last Friday.

Directions to the UT-D Stadium Field is as follows:
The University of Texas at Dallas is located in Richardson, Texas, north of Dallas' LBJ Freeway (Loop 635); and just south of the George Bush Turnpike, approximately 1.5 miles west of North Central Expressway (US-75).

FROM US-75 (North Central Expressway) - Take US-75 off north off Loop 635 (LBJ Freeway) or from north. Take Campbell Exit and turn west on Campbell. Travel west on Campbell past Custer. Enter campus at main entrance on University Drive. Athletic facilities and parking are on left as you enter campus.

FROM GEORGE BUSH TURNPIKE - Exit George Bush at Coit exit and head south on Coit. Turn left (east) on Campbell. Travel east on Campbell past Custer. Enter campus at main entrance on University Drive. Athletic facilities and parking are on left as you enter campus.

Oh hell yeah. In Dallas this weekend and now I have something to do - besides going to Kuby's and Campissi's.
