Mustangs record fourth straight win with 4-0 shutout over Oral Roberts
SMU improves to 7-2-1; C-USA opener this Friday

DALLAS (SMU) - The SMU women's soccer team recorded its fourth straight victory Sunday afternoon, dominating the visiting Oral Roberts Golden Eagles Sunday afternoon by the score of 4-0 at Westcott Field on the campus of SMU. With the win, SMU improves to 7-2-1 while the Golden Eagles fall to 1-6-2 on the season.

SMU controlled all aspects of the game right from the opening whistle. As the first half was coming to a close, SMU freshman Alissa Ireland gave SMU the Mustangs a 1-0 lead at the 44:20 mark with a soft tapper in front of the net off a cross by teammate Olivia O'Rear. In the second half, SMU continued the scoring barrage as O'Rear scored her sixth goal of the year at the 49:01 mark as she weaved through the ORU defense in the box and shot past ORU goalkeeper Shelbi Morrison. Sophomore Katie Leonard gave SMU a 3-0 lead at the 60:08 mark with a one-timer off a Krystal Bailey centering pass. Junior Jena Lind rounded out the Mustang scoring with a 20-yard blast just off right-center at the 78:57 mark.

SMU outshot the Golden Eagles, 19-3. Sophomore goalkeeper Ashley Gunter posted a clean sheet in her 155 minutes of play this week (at TCU, vs. ORU).

SMU continues its three-game homestand with the conference opener on Friday, Sept. 29 vs. UTEP (9-2). Gametime is set for 7:00 p.m. at Westcott Field.
