Even though Florida International took us to double OT before falling 3-2, the Mustangs continued to be ranked #1 by Soccer America. We have had a lot of OT games this season. It seems all teams get up for a chance to knock off the top team in the country. This will continue to be a season of hard, close games.

On the flip side of the coin the women get very little respect. With only two losses (to #1 ranked Notre Dame and #2 ranked UNC) Soccer Buzz has them listed as receiving votes. All they can do now is run the the conference table with a perfect record.

It will be interesting to read what the coaches poll will reveal today for both squads.

You're right -- the women do get very little respect. But in all honesty, who have we beaten that's any good? UNC sort of ran us over. Notre Dame, we hung with them through the first half before they got going in the second half. If LSU and Froggy High and UTEP are the best teams we've beaten this year, I think that speaks to why we're unranked. Personally, I think we should be ranked -- Ponies looked pretty solid in whipping Colorado College (game wasn't nearly as close as the score) Sunday. The conference schedule is going to hold us back, too. There's a chance we could roll the entire C-USA schedule and not get ranked. If that happens, we need to keep that record as gaudy as possible for NCAA seedings.

Go Mustangs!
