Women's soccer cracks top 25 in adidas/NSCAA poll
SMU riding nine-game winning streak

Oct. 17, 2006

DALLAS (SMU) - The SMU women's soccer team cracked the top-25 in this week's adidas/NSCAA poll, holding the No. 22 position. SMU is also ranked or received votes in three other national polls (Soccer America.com poll - 19th; Soccer Buzz.com poll - 27th; and Soccer Times.com poll - received votes). The last time SMU was ranked in the adidas/NSCAA poll was at the conclusion of the 2004 season when the Mustangs (15-4-3) closed out the campaign ranked 22nd in the nation.

SMU is riding a nine-game winning streak with a 12-2-1 record and remain unbeaten and untied in Conference USA play (5-0). In those nine games, SMU has outscored its opponents, 24-6, including five shutout victories. The Mustangs are also ranked in the national stats, including 17th in scoring offense, 19th in shutout percentage, and 13th in won-lost-tied percentage.

Individually, senior Olivia O'Rear (Farmers Branch, Texas) is 20th in the nation in goals per game.

After a three-game road swing, the Mustangs return home for their final regular-season games at Westcott Field. SMU entertains Marshall (5-7-1, 1-4 C-USA) Friday evening at 7:00 p.m. On Sunday, the Mustangs honor their seniors in a pregame ceremony before taking on East Carolina (7-6-2, 2-2-1 C-USA). Kick-off is set for 1:00 p.m.
