SMU's Gaelle Niare Earns C-USA Female Indoor Track and Field Athlete of the Week Honors
Senior High Jumper Posts NCAA Automatic Qualifying Mark in First Meet of Indoor Season

DALLAS (SMU) - SMU's Gaelle Niare has been named this week's Conference USA Female Indoor Track and Field Athlete of the Week. It is SMU's (and Niare's) first league honor of the season.

Niare, a 2006 NCAA Indoor and Outdoor All-American, posted an NCAA automatic qualifying mark of 6'0.5" (1.84m) in the high jump at the J.D. Martin Invitational in Norman, Okla., Saturday. It was her first competition of the indoor season, taking first place out of 12 competitors and posting the C-USA top performance of the season.

She's the reigning Conference USA indoor and outdoor champion in this event.
