Former SMU soccer player Ramon Nunez scored 2 goals and played extremely well in the center midfield as FC Dallas beat Colorado today 3-1 in its home opener at Pizza Hut Park. He was selected the MVP of the match that was nationally televised. Former SMU signee Kenny Cooper had a beautiful assist on the final goal in the game. I believe both would have been seniors next season if they had not gone pro. Cooper is a very physical and fast forward while Nunez is maturing into one of the better midfielders in MLS.

With Nunez and Cooper, SMU would be ranked No. 1 in every preseason poll, and it wouldn't be close. Cooper is a monster -- sort of a power forward/defensive end type, and Nunez is becoming something of a magician. Even at the college level, it sometimes was hard to see how he survived the physical pounding he took in his freshman year. In the pros .... kudos to him.

Kenny and Ramon would have finished playing for SMU after last season...so that senior class would have been Jay Needham, Chase Wileman, Dario Saintus, Mynor Gonzalez, Kenny Cooper, Ramon Nunez...UCSB wouldnt have stood a chance last year

Wow. The senior class was damn good anyway. That would have made it unreal.
