Yeah, I have never really understood the medical exemption. For instance, if you are outside the money list this late in the golf year, can you get the exemption? If so, it seems like there would be a lot of "injured" golfers late in the year. Also, it only allows for you to make a necessary amount in a limited period of time the following year if I understand it correctly.

Hopefully he will knock down a top 2 or 3 in the next few weeks and be safe. This is the time of year. The big boys are concentrating on the majors and it lets the lower ranks move up if they play a lot and play well. I follow a young golfer named Bryce Molder from Conway, AR and he was floundering until last week and got a 2nd place and moved up about 70 spots on the money list.

Colt Knost, who was celebrating his 24th birthday Friday, and 26-year-old Aaron Watkins were in the clubhouse at 8-under. They were tied with Anthony Kim, Paul Goydos, David Toms and Spencer Levin, all of whom were playing their back nine when play was halted.

Knost says he's almost fully recovered from minor injuries suffered when he was struck by a drunken driver just before the U.S. Open qualifier in Memphis.

``I could be in bed right now and not playing out here, so I feel very lucky to be playing this game for a living and that's the way I'm just going about it now,'' he said.

Please do not take this the wrong way. If he would tighten up physically, I think he would do better on the course.

I am not exactly perfect but when I saw him at the Byron, he was working hard to walk around that course.

I bet he loses 20 and hits the weights and does well.

Chubbiness didn't hurt Craig Stadler early in his career, same with Ray Floyd. And then there's John Daly. But today's pros are more fit and hit the ball farther. David Duval moved up in the rankings when he hit the weights and some suspect the roids and then tanked some suspect after he went off the juice. His game is only now coming back and he's a bit chubby again.

Actually, Duvall's recent improved play is due to losing some of the weight he had gained.
