Celebrating Payne Stewart

Postby George S. Patton » Mon Jun 15, 2009 3:29 pm

This coming Sunday marks the 10th anniversary of the late Payne Stewart winning the 1999 U.S. Open.

Indeed, all of us Mustangs probably had more pride than ever before because he won it in a down-to-the-wire type meeting with Phil Mickelson. I think he won it on Father's Day, a day after my now almost 10-year-old was born.

Of course, we tragically lost Payne months later. But with the U.S. Open coming up, I thought it would appropriate for us to reflect.
