Mustang Senior Nets Third-Team Honor

DALLAS (SMU) - SMU senior forward Paulo da Silva has been named a preseason All-American by CollegeSoccerNews.com, the outlet has announced. da Silva, a native of Piracicaba, Brazil, was listed on the third team.

da Silva played in 12 games last season, starting nine and leading the team with seven goals. He scored in five straight games early in the season. da Silva also recorded a pair of assists and led the team with 16 shots on goal.

da Silva and the Mustangs open their season in the Tulsa Invitational on Sept. 4 and 6, as they take on Seattle and 2008 NCAA Regional semifinalist Akron.

For a guy coming off a season in which he was injured a lot, that's a pretty lofty accolade.
