Congrats to a successful tournament. However, I am really suprised that TMc would permit current players to play on another team and risk injury outside of our regular soccer schedule. Especially since one of his 'major excuses' for having a pathetic season last year was injuries.

GO PONIES!!!

Most college players play club or other organized soccer in the off-season as permitted by NCAA rules. If SMU prohibited this, it would lose many top players. In addition, one of the big complaints about college soccer is the small number of games and lack of regular top competition. Club soccer as well as regional and national team competitions provide a means for top players to play more games at a high level and to improve their soccer skills and abilities. This should be encouraged as it will only improve the quality of our team. Soccer is a year around sport. Injuries happen but are less likely with top fitness that comes with regular competition and training.
