MORAGA, Calif. - The SMU women's soccer team could not hold off Saint Mary's (Calif.), as they fell 3-2 in their first game of the Saint Mary's Invitational. Leslie Briggs and Logan May scored their first goals of the season, and Kim Peabody registered her first assist of the year.

SMU got out to a quick start, when Leslie Briggs put in the first goal of her career in the fifth minute, but Saint Mary's quickly leveled the score when Sidney Garza assisted Daelyn Paul less than a minute later. Logan May put in her first goal of the season off a free kick from Kim Peabody, and gave the Mustangs a 2-1 lead entering the break.

Saint Mary's came back quickly in the second half with Daelyn Paul put in her second goal of the match in the 49th minute, and tied the game. Christina Tognetti put in her own rebound in the 83rd minute to give Saint Mary's the game-winner.

Kim Peabody's streak of consecutive minutes played ended in the 31st minute at 1831 straight minutes played, going back 20 games, when she was subbed out for Ryanne Lewis. Peabody still played 76 minutes against Saint Mary's.

SMU plays No. 16 California at 2:00 p.m. CST in their final game in the Saint Mary's Invitational. SMU travels to UT-San Antonio on Friday, September 18 before returning home to face No. 2 Portland on Sunday, September 20.
