IRVING, Texas (C-USA/SMU) --- Marta Lesniak of SMU earned Conference USA Women's Tennis Player of the Month honors, as announced by the league office Tuesday.

Lesniak went 14-4 overall in the month of October, with a 6-2 mark in singles and an 8-2 record in doubles. Lesniak and teammate Aleks Malyarchikova were ranked No. 13 in doubles and went 3-1 at the All-American Championship before having to withdraw due to injury. Lesniak then teamed up with Pavi Francis to go 5-0 and win the ITA Regional after practicing together for just over a week. The duo earned an automatic bid to the Indoor National Championships after their run.

The sophomore from Wroclaw, Poland, also advanced to the quarterfinals of the ITA Regional with wins over three top-64 players.

The ITA National Indoor Championships are Nov. 5-8 at the Cullman-Heyman Tennis Center in New Haven, Conn.

Congrats Marta on a job well done! I beleive she would have played in the All-American final had she not had to withdraw. Then she recoups and teams with Pavi to roll the competition down in Waco....That was impressive. Good Luck this weeken at the National Indoors.

To my knowledge, they are the first to ever represent SMU in the event!
