Sophomore Went 7-0 On The Week; Is No. 47 In ITA Rankings

IRVING, Texas (C-USA/SMU) - SMU's Marta Lesniak captured the first Women's Tennis Player of the Week honor, registering a flawless 7-0 weekend record.

The sophomore from Wroclaw, Poland is ranked No. 47 in the latest ITA rankings. She went a perfect 4-0 in the opening weekend by winning 48-of-55 games at No. 1 singles. Her wins propelled the No. 23 ranked Mustangs to a 4-0 start in dual matches. In doubles, the No. 30 duo of Lesniak and Aleks Malyarchikova won 24-of-25 games en route to a 3-0 dual match start to the season. This marks Lesniak's second career Women's Tennis Player of the Week honor.

Up next, the Mustangs head to NCAA Regional Indoor Championships on Jan. 29-30 in Gainesville, Fla. SMU faces No. 32 Florida International in the first round and then No. 8 Florida or No. 64 BYU in the second match.
