When she took over the SMU women's tennis program, coach Lauren Longbotham-Meisner inherited a team that seemingly had no pressure to exceed its modest ranking and reputation.

Longbotham-Meisner applied the needed pressure.

She intensified her recruiting efforts overseas, and put an added emphasis on doubles, and her young team began to grow. Last week, the Ponies turned in what she called the most impressive win of her time at SMU in a 7-0 dismemberment of crosstown rival TCU, and now find themselves riding a 10-1 record and ranked 21st in the nation.

Longbotham-Meisner visited with PonyFans.com to discuss how she helped her still-young team get where it is, and what she expects of her team in its efforts to continue climbing into the ranks of the nation's elite programs.
