No. 21 WTennis Weekend Update

Postby ER9TC4 » Sun Feb 28, 2010 10:40 am

The No. 21 SMU Women's Team steamrolled Louisville on Saturday afternoon in Columbia, Mo., 5-0, to improve to 11-1 on the season.

SMU swept the double point, winning at all three spots. The domination continued in singles as the Mustangs won all four singles matches played.

Freshman Edyta Cieplucha had the most exciting match of the day as she dropped the first set 2-6 and then was down 2-5 in the second and facing match point. Her opponent double faulted however to keep Cieplucha alive and she went on to take the next 11 games to win the match. The rookie remained undefeated in singles this spring.

----------

On Sunday, the Ponies were back at it against the host Missouri Tigers and the outcome was much the same.

SMU took the early 1-0 lead after doubles with wins at Nos. 1 and 2. They then picked up singles wins at Nos. 1, 2 and 4 for the 4-1 win. Mizzou grabbed their single point at No. 6.

The 12-1 Mustags will next face former SWC rivals Texas and Texas A&M on Mar 6 and Mar 9, respectively.
