Victoria Leks Leads SMU Track & Field At Sooner Invitational
NORMAN, Okla. (SMU) – SMU track & field athlete Victoria Leks won the high jump at the Sooner Invitational, Saturday at the John Jacobs Track and Field Complex on the campus of the University of Oklahoma. Leks’ mark of 1.73m, was a season-best for her.
Silje Fjortoft put up an impressive showing, placing second in the 3000 meters with a time of 10:02.28. The mark broke the old meet record of 10:10.76, but is now 20 seconds behind the new record time of 9:39.79, set by Caroline Jepleting of New Mexico JC.
Ayla Gill and Lauren Kuhner each earned top-five finishes in the hammer throw. Gill placed third with a throw of 56.74m while Kuhner’s throw of 55.00m was good for fifth. Earlier in the day Kuhner placed eighth in the discus throw with a mark of 45.20m.
Other Mustangs putting up top-ten finishes include Ebony Cuington who also placed eighth, this time in the 400 meter hurdles with a time of 1:07.44. Also placing eighth was the SMU 4x100 relay team, with a time of 3:52.95.
In the 1500 meter run both Klara Bodinson and Sara Sjokvist earned top-ten placements. Bodinson was seventh with 4:45.66 and Sjokvist earned a ninth place finish, crossing the finish line in 4:49.29.
