Adam Still Named 2011 Men's Soccer Captain

DALLAS (SMU) - The SMU men's soccer team, which finished the 2010 season ranked No. 8 in the nation, announced Adam Still as team captain for 2011.

"We're really happy to announce Adam Still as our captain for 2011," head coach Tim McClements said. "He represents the ideal student athlete; he's an excellent performer on the field and in the classroom. Still has class, integrity and a high level of commitment, which make him a great ambassador for the program and the University."

The defender helped lead the Mustangs to a 16-2-2 record and an NCAA Elite Eight appearance in 2010. The junior started all 20 games for the Mustangs and played 1808 of a possible 1880 minutes on the season. Still scored his first career goal on a 75-yard shot against No. 17 Tulsa on Oct. 20. During his career on the Hilltop, Still has appeared in 48 games for the Mustangs, tallying a goal and two assists.

In addition to his play on the field, Still is an exceptional student athlete, receiving numerous academic honors. In 2010, Still was named to the CoSIDA ESPN Academic All-America Third Team. Still is a two-time Academic All-America District VI Team award recipient. He has also been named to the Conference USA All-Academic Team.

SMU opens the spring season against FC Dallas at Pizza Hut Park on Friday at 7:30 p.m.
