Similar to last year with three big non-conference tests (Arkansas, Oklahoma, UCLA), but this year all three are on the road, and of course Loyola-Marymount will certainly pose somewhat of a challenge.
Opening conference play at home against UCF will be huge if we want to make some noise in C-USA this year.
Too bad UCF is the biggest team coming to Westcott, but it still should be an exciting season.

As the season gets closer, the media and fans will certainly do a closer analysis of who is improved through recruiting/experience and who has been hurt because of graduation...
Obviously, losing Shepherd and Medeiros will be huge for SMU - they played a ton of crucial minutes last year - but assuming other teams have similar issues, this schedule does look pretty navigable for the Mustangs.
Our final RPI last year was 53 (which was really close to making the tournament).
So, in theory, we should have a shot at Arkansas (139) and Loyola-Marymount (55) - even on the road.
Oklahoma (36) and UCLA (15) will be tough but that is obvious...
The CUSA will be as usual with the key games being UCF (23) and Memphis (26) - not to overlook Rice (70) and Houston (60). We do get a break with UCF, Houston, and Rice all at Wescott this season.
As long as we can keep from overlooking the UTSA/North Texas type games and make sure we take care of business against the lower CUSA teams this really could be a big season for SMU.
