Women's Soccer ranked No. 8 in Central Region

The NSCAA regional rankings for this week are out, and SMU is No. 8 in the Central Region!

1. Oklahoma State
2. Memphis
3. Kansas
4 (tie). UCF
4 (tie). Missouri
6. Texas
7. Iowa State
8. SMU
9. Texas Tech
10. Baylor

Congratulations to the team for bouncing back after the opening loss to Arkansas and getting to this point. It's also nice to see C-USA with three teams ranked this high at this point - hopefully the conference will get enough big wins this season to get three teams in the tournament.

The national rankings come out later this morning. OU was ranked 8 in the region last week and didn't have any national votes so I highly doubt we will have any.

Congratulations. That's good to see.

So UCF and Iowa State are in the same region? Is Alaska in that region, as well?

Getting ranked in a region that big is impressive!

Hopefully the team learned from last year. The week we were regionally ranked last season we went to Houston and promptly lost to both Houston and Rice. Even though we rolled off five straight wins after that road trip, we never regained our ranking.

North Texas played us tough last year, taking us to overtime before we won 3-2, so we definitely need to maintain our focus Friday.
