It really is great they were able to get the pitch in Drake Stadium in good enough shape for this game tonight. Obviously, the chance for our players to play a huge program like UCLA could be one of the highlights of their soccer careers. It would be a shame for the game to have been moved out to one of the secondary fields.

Second half underway!

UCLA is in all white. SMU is in blue shirts, white shorts, and red socks. Thanks, announcers!

Wrong — they keep calling Shelby Hartweck "Shelby Hart-WRECK."

That's not a particularly difficult name, is it?

Sounds like Redman is having a really strong game.

Sounds like Leroux had a decent opportunity but Webb was able to leave her line and get to the ball first to thwart the UCLA chance.

Yeah - her name keeps coming up. I think whenever she finally gets her first goal this season they will start coming in bunches. She is too good to be off the scoresheet for too long.

It's really kind of shocking she doesn't have a goal yet this season.

Another good opportunity for SMU from a free kick drawn by Clarke. Smith's shot saved by the UCLA keeper.

Which led to a decent UCLA chance and a nice save by Webb.

(all based on the radio of course)

True - that is the one name they are mispronouncing. How can you get Ryanne and Bartol correct but blow a simple name like Hartweck.

They do seem to know a decent amount about our players though - most of the announcers you run into on all-access and the like are idiots who barely know the rules.

Who is the second announcer?

I'm sure she's a former player, based on her comments about "when I was a student-athlete at SMU" but she has very little of value to say.

60 minutes gone. Still 1-0 UCLA.

Shots: SMU 1, UCLA 6
Shots on goal: SMU 1, UCLA 3
Corners: SMU 1, UCLA 5
Fouls: SMU 10, UCLA 7

Still mainly UCLA, but SMU is generating a reasonable amount of chances.

Another big save by Webb on Leroux.

She is some gymnast from UCLA - they said she is from Dallas. Allison something.

That's what I meant. "Athlete at UCLA..."

A gymnast broadcasting soccer?

Uh ... OK.

It would certainly explain the lack of relevant color commentary!

Are these two really suggesting that UCLA is "dominating" this game?
Based on their call of the game, it sounds pretty even.
