Sounds like Webb is having a huge game. Others that keep getting mentioned are Cox, Smith, Baum, Clarke, Bartol, and Redman.

Wow - Webb just made another HUGE save as I was typing this.

Sounds like Webb might be the best player out there tonight.

75 minutes - UCLA 1, SMU 0

SMU really is hanging in there but it's getting harder and harder to ignore our 1 shot on goal tonight.

No Burgardt tonight yet. No Gaines either.

Announcers just said "she's everywhere tonight" about Baum.

UCLA 1, SMU 0 FT

Shots: SMU 1, UCLA 13
Shots on goal: SMU 1, UCLA 7
Corners: SMU 1, UCLA 7
Fouls: SMU 12, UCLA 11

Obviously, UCLA had control of most of the match, but SMU definitely had their chances to get the equaliser.

It sounds like Webb was the star of the game - not only making some fantastic saves but also leaving her line to get to some balls when UCLA was in the process of generating an opportunity.

Baum and Clarke also sounded like they had nice games, as well as Redman up top.

Even though UCLA had 13 shots tonight, they had been averaging over 20 shots per game, so some credit should definitely go to SMU's defense tonight - particularly Cox and Eidson who had to deal with Leroux for most of the evening.

It is a shame to play that well and give up that goal on a breakaway, but it's also unrealistic to think UCLA wouldn't have pressed a bit more without the early goal.

Nobody likes to talk about moral victories, but...

ONE?

Ugh.

Sounds like Hart-WRECK presented the biggest challenge of the night, at least to those announcers. I caught SMU's game against UTSA when I was in town on business -- the SMU guy didn't have any trouble saying it right. Maybe UCLA spelled it wrong in the program?

I hate the idea of moral victories, too, but 1-0 on the road against a team like that isn't bad at all. Hard to believe the margin was the same against North Texas and UCLA.

Anyone know anything about Loyola Marymount? Are they any good?

4-1-1 entering their game tonight against Cal State-Fullerton. Beat Texas 3-1 in Austin. No ranking nationally or in the Pacific region.

They beat Texas on the road? UT is pretty decent, aren't they?

Go get 'em, Ponies!

Texas is ranked regionally, but aren't getting any play nationally. They are 5-1-1 though so the LMU win deserves a lot of respect.

I would guess we are pretty even with LMU. We need to score some goals though!

As I said before the season, I fully expected SMU to be able to keep our goals against around 1.00 this season.

Last year, we allowed 1.05 goals per game. This season we have allowed 1.00 goals per game (6 goals in 6 matches).

The key to this season is going to be if we can increase our 1.23 goals scored per game from last season.

So far, we have failed. SMU has only scored 7 goals in our 6 matches so far this season (1.17 goals per game).

It still seems like we are generating plenty of decent chances in every game, but we need to start burying some of them!

We won't get anywhere without more offense. I like our defense a lot, and I think the ability to score more is there, but it's time to start seeing results ... starting with the win tomorrow over LMU!

Agree. And losing Mandy this week was a big hit, unfortunately. Hopefully someone else will step up, starting today!!
