I hope our team takes a look at the end of the LMU weekend preview video:

LMU 1-0.

LMU drew a penalty. Webb made the save, but LMU was able to put the rebound in the net.

Can't tell who they called the penalty on. The audio feed said somebody pushed somebody over with their forearm.

Webb sure does save a ton of PKs.

30 minutes in. LMU still up 1-0.

SMU has a 6-5 shot advantage and a 2-0 corner advantage. Both teams have two shots on goal.

SMU has had the ball in the LMU end for the majority of the last 15 minutes...

SMU has a 4-0 corner advantage now.

Still 1-0 LMU.

LMU up 1-0 at halftime. Frustrating.

Shots: SMU 8, LMU 6
Shots on goal: SMU 2, LMU 2
Corners: SMU 4, LMU 0
Fouls: SMU 8, LMU 6

After the first 15 minutes SMU definitely had most of the run of play. No idea obviously if the penalty was legit.

Sounds like SMU developed a nice opportunity and their keeper made a nice save on a Scovill shot.

SMU just earned another corner as well.

60 minutes. 1-0 LMU.

SMU leading in shots 9-7. LMU had 5 of their shots in the first 15 minutes.

LMU also still only has two shots on goal (which were the PK and the shot that scored after the Webb save).

SMU has a 7-0 corner advantage.

Sound familiar?

Five minutes left. SMU just had a free kick from 25 yards out but LMU's keeper saved the shot from Courtney Smith.

Final. LMU 1, SMU 0.

Sounds like another great defensive effort by SMU. LMU really didn't generate that many offensive chances.

On the offensive end, SMU developed chance after chance, but couldn't get that last crucial touch.

Another PK save for Courtney Webb too. Too bad the rebound went right back to the LMU player or we might just be headed to OT right now.

SMU had the ball in the LMU end for the majority of the second half, as well as most of the final 30 minutes of the first half.

Obviously credit does also go to LMU's defense. A lot of the time when we fed a ball in from the midfield or the sides, they had somebody there to defend it.

I'm sure the team is as frustrated about the lack of goals as we are. :)

Final stats:

Shots: SMU 14, LMU 9
Shots on goal: SMU 4, LMU 3
Corners: SMU 8, LMU 1 !!!!!!
Fouls: SMU 12, LMU 16

The LMU recap, including a highlights video:

http://www.lmulions.com/sports/w-soccer/recaps/091111aaa.html

They don't show the actual penalty.

They have a great view of the penalty kick though. What a fantastic save! Webb almost got to the rebound, and Smith almost had the original shooter marked as well. Well played by SMU, just needed a split second more.

Total bad luck the rebound went right back to the LMU player (I refuse to use her name). What a crappy way to lose a game.
