Horrible turnover from Kalis but Ibarra bails him out with a nice save. Corner Tulsa.

Everything is safe. SMU now has a free kick in the Tulsa end.

Fantastic curling free kick from Ivo from around 25 yards forces a diving save from the Tulsa keeper and a corner - but nothing comes of it.

Under 30 minutes left.

This is crazy! Tulsa picks up a red for fouling Ben Hill on a breakaway in the area. Penalty for SMU.

T.J. Nelson takes the penalty and the Tulsa keeper saves it.

Still 2-1 SMU with 21:30 left.

Ibarra with a huge save to keep it at 2-1. 10:30 left and Tulsa is controlling play down a man somehow...

SMU WINS 2-1!!!!!

What a huge win for the Mustangs - playing against a really good Tulsa team on the road.

It is especially nice to see the team turn the early 0-1 into a 2-1 victory.

It was kind of frightening to see SMU get off to a sluggish start, but once SMU got settled in the rest of the first half and the beginning of the second half was definitely in the control of the Mustangs.

Once the cards started flying, things certainly got a bit murky. It was obviously unsettling to see Tulsa have much of the run of play at 9 v. 10, but SMU was able to make the plays we needed to in order to secure the 3 points. Thankfully the missed penalty did not come back to haunt us.

Final stats:

Shots: SMU 14, Tulsa 16
Shots on goal: SMU 8, Tulsa 9
Corners: SMU 4, Tulsa 5
Offsides: SMU 7, Tulsa 2
Fouls: SMU 12, Tulsa 16
Yellow Cards: SMU 3, Tulsa 3
Red Cards: SMU 0, Tulsa 1

Thanks for the updates.

Why did Kalis get tossed? Playing at Marshall without a key senior defender could be tough. Isn't Marshall pretty good this year? They're 6-4 overall and 3-0 in C-USA games, including a win tonight at Kentucky, which is no easy place to win.

Agree - the second Kalis yellow was certainly a bit unwise for a senior who knew he was already on a yellow and also knew the other team had just gone a man down.

We all saw what missing a key defender on a red card suspension (de Almeida) did against UCF Saturday night. Hopefully history will not repeat itself against Marshall.
