The No. 9 SMU Mustangs (5-1) take on No. 4 South Carolina (2-1) in a Hunter Seat competition at BuckBranch Farm Friday. South Carolina's only loss on the year was on a tiebreaker at No. 1 Auburn.

South Carolina has been very successful in the English portions of their competitions so far, so this one sets up as a huge test for the Mustangs.

So far this season in Hunter Seat, here are the South Carolina results:

vs. Fresno State - 9-1 (5-0 over fences, 4-1 on the flat)
vs. TCU - 9-1 (4-1 over fences, 5-0 on the flat)
at Auburn - 5-5 (2-3 over fences, 3-2 on the flat)

Hopefully the Mustangs will continue their recent run of strong showings and give the Gamecocks a good test tomorrow. Go Ponies!

SMU gave South Carolina a tough battle today but the Gamecocks ended up prevailing 6-5.

South Carolina was 4-2 on the flat, but SMU won fences 3-2.

It's great to see SMU competing that closely with a top program like South Carolina.

Great release from SMU:

Emma Roberts is 6-0 over fences as a freshman. Greer Hindle and Courtney Line (also both freshmen) won points on the flat.

Jordyn Pettersen won over fences again, and Julianna FIscher continued her stellar season with a point over fences as well.

Once again, a great day for SMU. The win would have been nice but the strides the program has made from last year are simply amazing.
