No, the big east teams play at the Varsity level. The guys are taking a trip west tho. On the schedule this year is Tech, Texas State, A&M, OU, Loyola Marymount, Claremont, San Diego State, Cal Poly, Colorado State, Baylor, North Texas, TCU.

I believe I asked this before and was told yes, but do the lacrosse players still pay their own expenses to go to these away games? If so, that must be expensive. Do the teams that play SMU at home also pay for their own expenses assuming they are not varsity and not sanctioned by their schools as well.

My point being these players are pretty dedicated.

My little brother is on the team. Go Mustangs! Cool to see him in the video. He hadn't told me about it yet. Thanks for posting.

The club sports generally pay their own way. Many club teams (across the country) players will pay over $2000 per season. Sponsors and fundraising are key ways to cut the individual players expense, however it takes a dedicated player to get involved.

Glad to see SMU Lax getting better and better.

I don't think the dues have hit 2,000 for SMU yet, although with two trips requiring flights, it might be.

When the club started in the '70s, we got by with fundraising and passing the hat for gas money & beer. Now with paid coaches, travel to out of state tourneys and games, the expenses must be tremendously high. We would fly to Lubbock but drive everywhere else including the Mardi Gras Tourney. Our away unis were some old football jerseys we secured from the athletic department.

One of the girls on the track team was in the office this morning and said that the move to the Big East meant:
1. Varsity Lacrosse
2. Men's track and field
3. Baseball...

I wonder how much of that will come top pass?

I expect women's lacrosse to be added within five years of the big east move. Men's won't happen until it is privately funded like at Michigan

Lacrosse and men's track and field hopefully. Baseball would be great but that would mean adding softball.

Very interesting article. Steve O sheds some light on the possibilities. My understand is it would take a mere 30 million to make it happen.
