Equestrian - Julianna Fischer at WEF Challenge

Julianna Fischer will be representing SMU at the Winter Equestrian Festival Collegiate Equitation Challenge in Wellington, FL today.

Fischer will be competing in the equitation over fences bracket. This exciting competition features sixteen of the nation's top collegiate riders matched head-to-head in a tournament style.

In the first round, Fischer is paired against Maggie Earle of Texas A&M.

Hopefully, Fischer will continue with the momentum she has after her huge weekend against A&M in our competition last week, where she won her fences pairing and came through with the clutch ride on the flat that clinched the show for the Mustangs.

FYI - Wellington, FL is also Fischer's hometown.

Fischer put up a fantastic score of 84, but was unfortunately defeated by a score of 85.

Fischer ended up with the fourth highest score in the first round (86.5, 86, 85, 84), but that's equestrian.

Fischer drew Amy Lang from New Mexico State in the first round of the consolation bracket.

Fischer advances to the semifinals of the consolation bracket with a 84-75 victory.

Fischer's 84 was the highest score of the quarterfinals. She will face Nellie Foosaner of Miami in the semifinals.

Fischer moves on to the final of the consolation bracket with an 86-83 win!

Pretty impressive performance so far, with scores of 84, 84, and 86 in three rides in just a little over an hour.

Fischer is facing Caroline Cramer of Tennesee-Martin in the consolation bracket championship.

Unfortunately, Fischer was defeated in the consolation championship.

Still a very nice performance on the day - especially after what had to be a disheartening exit from the main bracket after such a great ride.
