Rowing Finishes Second At Oklahoma Invitational
SMU competes in Longhorn Invitational next weekend

March 11, 2012

OKLAHOMA CITY, Okla. (SMU) - The SMU rowing team took second at the Oklahoma Invitational Sunday, coming up short to host Oklahoma in the final. The Mustangs won six of their nine races over the first two days of competition to advance to the final.

"I'm very proud of the way we competed over the weekend," head coach Doug Wright said. "Our times got better as the weekend went on. I am pleased with our times think we will only get faster as the season goes on."

The Mustangs posted their fastest times of the weekend against Oklahoma, with the 1st Varsity 8+ completing the course in 7:32.52, but it wasn't fast enough to defeat the Sooners. The 2nd Varsity 8+ posted a 7:45.27, and the Varsity 4 finished in 9:09.25.

SMU will compete in Longhorn Invitational in Austin, Texas March 16-18.

Congratulations!

Rowing sure is a difficult sport to follow though. You never have any idea who is actually participating and there are a bazillion rowers on the roster...

The OU website has the "box score" if you can call it that because it only lists schools and times as well.

Good luck in Austin this weekend!
