Back to soccer...

SMU heads to College Station for a spring game against Texas A&M Saturday at 1pm. The Aggies are 4-0 on the spring and have not conceded a goal.

This spring, A&M has a 1-0 victory over Rice, a 2-0 victory over Sam Houston State, a 1-0 victory over North Texas, and a 1-0 victory over Baylor.

Like last week, facing a NCAA tournament team from this season on the road will be a nice test for SMU. Based on the spring results, one would expect a low-scoring affair. It will be interesting to see if SMU is able to break down the A&M defense and put a goal on the board. This game is also A&M's final spring game, and with it being at home for them there is no reason for SMU to expect anything less than the best effort from A&M.

A&M graduated four seniors, but a quick look at their roster shows their top two scorers and first-choice keeper were all freshmen this season so they should be fine. The Aggies finished the regular season ranked No. 21 and made it to the second round of the NCAA tournament this past fall.

Hopefully, with this game being a bit closer to Dallas (and even closer to Houston), we will get some first-hand reports from the SMU perspective. At the very least, A&M appears to be pretty good about giving spring soccer updates. They were even giving live updates of their Baylor game on twitter.

On the bright side, the forecast for College Station Saturday is partly cloudy with a high of 71, so the team shouldn't have to worry about dodging tornadoes this weekend! :)

Go Ponies!

Here is the A&M release:

Not much, although I wish they didn't have an obvious typo in the total shot count so we could have a bit better idea how today went.

Hopefully, somebody was there.
