Women's Soccer - 2012 Schedule Thread

Postby DanFreibergerForHeisman » Tue May 29, 2012 5:07 pm

We may not have a coach, but we have some games scheduled this fall! Here is what has already released by other schools:

14 Sep @Baylor
16 Sep Oklahoma
----
21 Sep
23 Sep
28 Sep UTEP
30 Sep Colorado College
5 Oct @Southern Miss
7 Oct
12 Oct @East Carolina
14 Oct @Marshall
19 Oct UAB
21 Oct Memphis
26 Oct @Tulsa

Notes: September 21/23 will almost certainly be at Houston and at Rice in some order. Also, October 7 is obviously at UCF.

Yes - we have 7 road conference games and only 4 home conference games.

No, C-USA is not screwing us over for leaving, it's just the way the schedule cycle works out with the travel partners. We had 7 home and 4 road conference games in 2009 and 2012 is the other end of the cycle.

On the bright side, that means we should get quite a few home non-conference games. There should be six or seven more non-conference games announced.

More updates as they are released until we officially release our schedule.

Well this should be exciting, we are going to be in the Longhorn Invitational this season.

Unfortunately, we won't be playing Texas - but we will be playing Virginia! The Cavaliers made the final eight in the tournament last season.

The game against UVA is at 11am on Sept. 2. (so in theory one could make the soccer game in Austin and the football game in Waco, right?)

The other team we will play will be New Mexico which should be Aug. 31.

After facing USC, Cal, Portland, and UCLA on the West Coast the past few seasons, it will be nice to take on a top national team reasonably close to home - hopefully we will get back to the point where we can get these teams to come to Westcott again soon.

As of right now, here is the known (or at least very very likely) 2012 schedule:

31 Aug New Mexico (Longhorn Invitational)
2 Sep Virginia (Longhorn Invitational)
7 Sep at TCU
14 Sep at Baylor
16 Sep Oklahoma
21 Sep at Houston
23 Sep at Rice
28 Sep UTEP
30 Sep Colorado College
5 Oct at Southern Miss
7 Oct at UCF
12 Oct at East Carolina
14 Oct at Marshall
19 Oct UAB
21 Oct Memphis
26 Oct at Tulsa

It is actually shaping up to be a pretty nice and challenging schedule.

There will probably be three or four more non-conference games and probably an exhibition added in August as well as a home or regional game on Sept. 9 (it won't be North Texas State because they have already released their schedule and we do not play this season).

The schedule was officially released this afternoon. The second straight year we have released our schedule on June 20.

Sept. 7 shapes up to be quite interesting considering SMU thinks the SMU/TCU game is in Dallas and TCU thinks it is in Ft. Worth.

That has been corrected. The game will be played in Fort Worth.
