W-Soccer: SMU at San Diego State

Postby DanFreibergerForHeisman » Thu Aug 16, 2012 6:58 pm

The 2012 season opens Friday night in San Diego as the Mustangs take on the San Diego State Aztecs. SDSU had hyped this game as being the first one under the lights at their "new" stadium, but I guess they didn't get the lighting ready in time since the game has been moved up two hours from its originally scheduled time. Their stadium is on top of a parking garage by the way (not joking).

Anyway, hopefully the Mustangs will bring the drive and determination we showed in the exhibition against Missouri and get the season off to a great start!

And, if you didn't see it, an absolute can't miss new column from Chris Petrucelli today:

Don't forget the game is at 7pm our time. It looks like there is no video stream available unfortunately, but they will have live stats.

Larson on for Bartol.

Lonsberry and Ambrose in for Elliott and Redman. 4-4-2 with Lonsberry up top with Scovill?

Second half underway. Same starters except Lonsberry is in for Elliott - so no idea on formation.

At the hour mark - not much has happened in the second half. No shots. One corner for SMU. Each team has one foul.

Into the 86th minute, still 0-0. Impossible to keep up with SMU's substitutions (as far as formations, etc.). Bodden and Smith the only players who have played the full game.

SMU still only has 1 shot. SDSU has had 4 shots in the second half and is up to 7 on the game, but still only 1 on goal.

End of regulation, 0-0.

SDSU with a 7-2 edge in shots but SMU has a 2-1 edge in shots on goal. Fouls are 9-9 and corners are 2-2. Yellows are 1-1 as well! It sounds pretty even.

Let's go get an overtime winner!
