Cross Country Ties For First At UTA Season Opener
Freshmen Skatteboe, Powers Lead Way For Mustangs In Arlington

ARLINGTON, Texas (SMU) - Three SMU runners finished in the top-5 at the UTA Season Opener in Arlington, Texas, on Saturday morning. SMU finished tied with Baylor for first in the team championship.
Karoline Skatteboe, the Conference USA Cross Country Athlete of the Week, finished just .6 seconds off the top-event pace, finishing second at 10:50.8. Fellow freshman Ashlee Powers came in third at 10:54.8, and senior Mary Alenbratt grabbed fifth with an 11:06.9.
Two more Mustangs finished in the top-10. Freshman Shanoah Souza placed ninth with a 11:25.3, and junior Caitlin Keen finished tenth, clocking in at 11:26.1.
SMU's tie with Baylor comes eight days after falling just short of Baylor's results at the Bear Twlight Invite, hosted by Baylor.
Stephanie Wright and Christina Wright also placed for SMU, finishing 22nd and 24th, respectively.
The Mustangs will head to Denton, Texas, next Saturday for a meet hosted by North Texas.
