Postby DanFreibergerForHeisman » Sat Oct 20, 2012 5:55 pm

SMU faces Memphis Sunday afternoon at 2pm in the final home game of the 2012 season.

The Tigers (9-7-0, 5-4-0) have been struggling lately. After seven straight wins - including a 5-0-0 start in C-USA - they have dropped four straight games including a 3-0 defeat at Tulsa Friday night.

SMU (8-6-3, 4-2-3) is currently on a four-game unbeaten streak.

One quick look at the C-USA standings shows how important this game is for SMU:

1. 22 (7-1-1) Rice
2. 19 (6-2-1) Colorado College
3. 18 (6-3-0) UCF
4. 15 (5-4-0) Memphis
5. 15 (4-2-3) SMU
5. 15 (4-2-3) East Carolina
7. 14 (4-3-2) Tulsa
8. 10 (3-5-1) Marshall
--------
9. 9 (3-6-0) UTEP
10. 9 (2-3-3) Houston
11. 3 (1-7-0) Southern Miss
12. 3 (1-8-0) UAB

Shots were 27-10 SMU, shots on goal were 11-3 SMU , and corners were 10-2 SMU, but unfortunately it ended 1-1.

Kenzie Scovill scored another beautiful goal on a diving header directly from a Mallory Baum corner.

On the bright side, SMU has now clinched a berth in the C-USA tournament.

The Mustangs are at Tulsa next Friday to close out the regular season.

With no real upsets in C-USA today, SMU slipped a bit in the overall standings. The big news of the day was Colorado College winning at Rice to climb up to a tie for first (and obviously gain the tiebreaker with Rice).

Scores today:

Memphis 1, SMU 1
UAB 0, Tulsa 2
Marshall 0, UCF 5
ECU 3, Southern Miss 1
UTEP 0, Houston 3
Colorado College 1, Rice 0

Updated Standings:

1. 22 (7-2-1) Colorado College
1. 22 (7-2-1) Rice
3. 21 (7-3-0) UCF
4. 18 (5-2-3) East Carolina
5. 17 (5-3-2) Tulsa
6. 16 (5-4-1) Memphis
7. 16 (4-2-4) SMU
8. 12 (3-3-3) Houston
--------
9. 10 (3-6-1) Marshall
10. 9 (3-7-0) UTEP
11. 3 (1-8-0) Southern Miss
12. 3 (1-9-0) UAB

Coach, coach, coach.....when are you going to lose the rose-colored glasses thru which you view SR? Doesn't pass. Can't pass. Yet plays the entire game, game after game. Yeah, I get that she scored some goals for you, but how many would there be if someone played with/for the team, instead of for "me"? Plays too slow, too many touches. Goes for the nutmeg every time. That's minor league. And most winning coaches don't usually play their forwards 100%. What say you, Coach?

Go Mustangs!

I hope your negative attitude doesn’t rub off on your daughter or effect team dynamics as they finish up the season and head into Conference USA tournament.

Should a dad be bad mouthing another player on the team? Stay classy…….
