our swimming & diving programs have really dropped off; we really need that new facility. wish we had our own T. Boone willing to fund construction. Was it that long ago that we were always hovering around the top 10?

The erosion of the Men's and to a lesser degree the Women's Swimming & Diving has continued. For the Men, it is not realistic to characterize us as a Top 10 program (our traditional results), much less a Top 25 ranked team. For example, this weekend's SMU Swim Classic, we finished sixth out of six having been beaten by Michigan, USC, Florida, Louisville and Purdue. Embarrassing.

Yes, the Perkins Natatorium is old, ineffective and unlikely to help us recruit, train and race. There are other factors, but replacing Perkins is key.

Hopefully, when we have a new swimming complex erected, we can keep Joe Perkins as a Bass hatchery.

Yeah, we just aren't getting it done in the pool. Don't know how many men's schollies we have in swimming anymore. Perhaps they're letting is wither away, to cut it down the road.
UNC better keep that Ram away from Peruna

Administration and the Athletic Department has a benign attitude toward Swimming & Diving. We are coasting on the reputation and history of the Men's and Women's programs, presuming that we will be continue to be competitive, despite the facilities and the lack of attention the teams receive.

AD Hart needs to spend more than five minutes on Swimming & Diving. On our current course, we have average programs at best. We have much to do, including harvesting the goodwill of former teammates, committing to competitive facilities and raising the expectations for the coaches. The trend is not good.

The diminished rankings are a shame. Coach Sinnott, Coach Collins and Coach Stillson are sensational coaches who are being handcuffed because of the JV-quality facilities that the university won't upgrade or replace.
