TEMPE, Arizona (SMU/Intercollegiate Tennis Association) — SMU women's tennis improved nine spots in the most recent Intercollegiate Tennis Association poll, coming in at No. 36 — the ITA announced on Tuesday.

As a team, this is the ninth time the Mustangs have been mentioned in the ITA rankings this season. Previously, SMU was ranked No. 45 on April 16.

Taylor Johnson and Lana Mavor remain in the top 50 in doubles rankings, and as of Tuesday are currently No. 40 in the country.

Most recently, SMU Women's Tennis won its second straight American Athletic Conference Championship, defeating Memphis 4-0 on Sunday at the Styslinger/Altec Tennis Complex.

SMU (13-11) earned the top seed going into the Championship, with Memphis (17-8) being the No. 3 seed.

The Mustangs won 22 of 27 matches across singles and doubles play in the championship. Mavor, a Maine native, was also named the Most Outstanding Performer of the 2024 AAC Championship.
