I'll be honest I had never heard of 1st and 10, but I'll have to give it a shot. Twisted Root is average for burgers. Great when you're living at SMU and you compare it to the trash they serve on campus. Even Goff's gets old. I would rather have smashburger if I would go for a moderate/large chain. But Milo's does serve a mean burger and the best that I have had in a long while is from hopdoddy. Even Mutt's serves a good burger which isn't ridiculous. Any other places people would recommend?

I haven't tried 1st and 10...

Me and a couple buddies went downtown to Scotty's to watch the SMU at Cincy game... It was a pretty good time... Hate to see that it closed...

As a young alumni, I would love to patronize at more SMU owned bars.

Could someone list a few?

Agreed.
If you want a big burger that is fairly good, go to 1st&10. If you want a really good burger, go to Twisted Root. If you want a burger that will make you want to come back to Dallas just to eat it again, Goodfriend is the place.

I've always found Twisted Root to be completely average. I've eater there 4 or 5 times, and I've never been impressed with their product. I've tried to switch it up each visit, so it's not based upon one specific item.

That's disgusting. Why would you mislead someone like that?

Goff's is garbage. Twisted root gets some novelty points amd is good. 1st and 10 is a good solid burger. Difference is up to preference.

I like goff's. But I typically stick with the frank cheezie. Chili cheese dog. Only had a burger a few times.

Goff's was atrocious. Only went there on half-price Tuesdays and even that seemed too step. Burger House isn't bad. Nothing life-changing, but not bad for fast food.

Back in the day, Goffs wouldn't let you in the door if you had long hair. At that time I think their main location was between Inwood Rd. and the DNT (Toll road), on W.Lovers Ln. For that reason alone, the SMU student body boycotted them then, and if I lived in Dallas today, I still would.
